Rick Hixson Tops in Carl Black Top Tracks

Challenge Series at Cleveland Speedway

CLEVELAND, Tenn. (Aug. 18) Rick Hixson took the lead on the white flag lap and went on to win the Top Tracks Challenge Series race Saturday night at Cleveland Speedway. The Soddy Daisy hot shoe would take home $2,000 for his winning efforts.

Hixson became the eighth different winner in eight races in the 2007 TTCS campaign.

With the laps winding down Hixson moved into the second spot behind Jake Knowles and began to stalk the leader. Making a last ditch effort on the last lap of the 30-lap feature event Hixson took the lead and the win.

From his fifth place starting spot Hixson, at the drop of the green, would move into fourth behind David McCoy, Jake Knowles and Todd Morrow. The first leader, McCoy, would bring out the first caution on lap 3 which opened the door for Knowles and Morrow to take over the first and second spots with Hixson moving to third. The lead trio would tour the third mile clay oval snaking around lap traffic with relative ease until Morrow would experience suspension problems. Morrow’s problems opened the door for Hixson to move into second behind Knowles and set up the last lap pass for the lead and the win.

Mike Head, J.J. Nye and Chuck Padgett would round out the top five. Bobby Doss, Chris Fennell, Alan Brewer, McCoy and Reed Johnson were the second five across the stripe.

Next up for the Carl Black TTCS will be a $2,000 to win event this Saturday Night August 25^th at the Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.
