LARRY ELDRIDGE CLAIMS CARL BLACK TOP TRACK SERIES WIN AT EAST ALABAMA MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Phenix City, AL (July 3, 2007) – Larry Eldridge took the lead with two laps to go to pick up his first career win in the Carl Black Top Tracks Challenge Series sanctioned event at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL on Tuesday Night.
William Thomas jumped to the front spot from the drop of the green and led the first twenty-eight circuits of the event.
Dana Eiland’s blown engine on lap twenty-eight would set up a wild two lap shootout.
Thomas developed a flat tire during the caution and elected to try and finish the event.
Eldridge would drop to the bottom to pass Jeff Smith and Thomas on the re-start to grab the point with Smith moving by Thomas for second.
Eldridge would hold off Smith’s challenge at the end to capture the win and the $1,500 first place prize money.
Smith would finish in the second spot with current TTCS point leader Jake Knowles in third. Fourth spot went to Shane Thompson with Richie Stepens rounding out the top five.
Thomas would hang on for a sixth place finish.
The third race of the season for the TTCS would see thirty-six entrants on hand with Dana Eiland setting fast time honors.
Heat race wins went to Lamar Haygood, Richard Stephens and Alan Brewer.
