JAKE KNOWLES CHARGES TO CARL BLACK TOP TRACKS CHALLENGE SERIES WIN IN ROME SPEEDWAY OPENER

Rome, GA (May 27, 2007) – Jake Knowles started sixteenth and took the lead with two laps remaining to pick up the win in the Carl Black Pontiac/Buick/GMC Top Tracks Challenge Series event, in front of a standing room only crowd at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA on Sunday Night.

Knowles win moves him to the top of the 2007 TTCS points standings.

175 cars entered the pit area including forty-six entrants in the TTCS crate division.

Rodney Martin and JJ Nye would lead the field down for the start of the thirty-lap feature event.

Martin would jump to the lead from the start over Nye, Frank Ingram and Jeff Smith.

Smith would move under Nye for the second spot on the second circuit and Ingram would follow two laps latter to move up to third.

Ingram would then make a pass on Smith on the fifth circuit and put the challenges on Martin up front.

Martin would hold on up front as Smith put pressure back on Ingram for second.

Ingrams luck would sour on lap ten as a flat tire would retire him bringing out a caution flag.

As the green flew Martin would jump out front again followed by Smith and Jerry Fowler who had moved from tenth up to third.

The men everyones eyes turned to were Knowles who started sixteenth and John Owenby who started seventeenth, as both was marching there way to the front.

A lap seventeen caution would see Martin still up front followed by Smith, Fowler and Knowles.

Lap eighteen would see Smith put the pressure on Martin and slide underneath coming off of turn two to grab the lead.

Lap twenty-six would see Fowler get by Martin to claim second spot, but one lap later, Fowler would spin coming off of turn two to bring out a caution.

A three lap dash was now set up with Smith leading followed by Martin, Knowles and Owenby.

Knowles would use the Delaware Double File Re-starts to his advantage riding low to pass Martin and then put the move on Smith to grab the lead with two laps remaining.

Knowles would then cruise to the checkers and the $1,500 payday picking up his first career TTCS event win followed by Smith in second, Owenby in third and Martin in fourth.

The next events for the Carl Black TTCS will be on Sunday July 1st at the Rome Speedway in Rome, GA and then on Tuesday Night July 3rd at the East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL.  Both events will feature a $1,500 to win main event.
