LOGAN YATES CLAIMS CARL BLACK TTCS VICTORY AT TST

Eastaboga, AL (October 26, 2007) – Logan Yates took the lead on lap twenty-one and led the final eight laps to claim the Carl Black Top Tracks Challenge Series victory in the series 2007 finale at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on Friday Night.

Kenny Gaither finished in the second spot with Jay Blair third.  Fourth spot went to Jeff Fields with Derrick Rainey rounding out the top five.

Gaither set fast time among the sixty-entrants on hand, and jumped to the lead from the start of the thirty-lap feature event.

Gaither would use the bottom of the track to hold off the competitors for the first twenty plus circuits.

Yates would jump to the outside about half-way through the feature to get around Blair for second and then finally around Gaither to take the lead, win and $1,500 payday.

The win for Yates makes him the eleventh different winner in eleven races on the TTCS in the 2007 racing season. 

Jake Knowles was crowned the 2007 series champion and the top six in points were recognized on the front stretch following the race.

The crate motor give-a-way recognized the drivers who were at every TTCS event in the season, with Bob Gibby winning the 604 crate motor.

Championship ceremonies and the motor give-a-way included Debra Swims and Chase Swims, the late Mike Swims wife and son.  Mike was a consultant with the TTCS.

The event at TST concluded the season for the TTCS and details regarding a banquet will be forthcoming.
